Parkour is a training discipline focused on how to use your challenges to grow physically, mentally, and socially. Practitioners aim to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most creative way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement (crawling) and other movements as deemed most suitable for the situation and challenge.
What is Playformance Parkour?
Playformance Parkour classes feature a non competitive discipline of movement focused on play and creativity that teaches kids how to overcome any obstacle with a playful mindset. Our students will learn to seek out challenges that will test them physically and mentally. Through facing these challenges, they build a solid fitness foundation of strength, flexibility, balance, control, creativity, and discipline. They will also play challenging games with others which will help to grow their social and emotional skills through playful connection. We view parkour as a team sport and teach our students to support and encourage each other through their challenges. Ages 5-6 will be on one team we call the Itty Bitty Parkour Team and ages 7 and up are on the Youth Parkour Team.
